What's the deal?

Multi-level marketing organisations, and the stigma attached to their recruitment, have been around since the 1980’s. In the current economic climate it is evident that these companies are on the rise, increasing unemployment is proving a strong catalyst for the growth in the UK.

The business structure is without doubt unsustainable but still thousands of people get roped into working 70 hours a week on a commission only basis, due to the prospect of fantastic but unrealistic earning potential when management status is achieved.

The main reason this global network of companies exists, despite its serious lack of integrity, is due to the lack of available information.

It appears very easy to understand why the business opportunity should work, but very difficult to work out why it does not.

It is an intriguing business structure as there is no central authority governing this global network of companies. But still the network will evolve to avoid detection, and without correct information out there many more young, ambitious people will be taken advantage of.

In the UK the main parent companies take the form of Cobra and more recently PerDM. Despite slight differences between the way these firms operate, the fundamental structure is identical throughout the global structure. Common characteristics, for example, include: ‘Atmosphere’ and ‘Negging out’, both are key tools/concepts used by these companies to ‘Impulse’ people to buy into the ‘management opportunity’.

This isn’t quite the same structure as it requires a pre payment in this case. Nevertheless it’s a quite good outline of why these organisations are designed to fail:
